About The Gig Reviewer

"The rock music community website for rock music nuts by rock music nuts"

The Gig Reviewer is an magazine style rock music web site. It started in November 2002 after a group of friends in Surrey and Hampshire decided to create a web presence to air their gig reviews and have a place for discussions... well ok arguments!

It has grown to house a range of views from amercana fans to hardcore metal and some decididly naf pop! The less said about that the better!

Best of Unsigned CD

One of the projects that The Gig Reviewer has embarked on was to compile and release a compilation of unsigned music to promote what many feel to be a vast field of music as yet untapped for its commercial potential. We hope by our release of "Gig Reviewer - Best of Unsigned" in 2003 that we can at least gain some exposure for some highly talented bands many of which may have a successful future in front of them!

You can take a peek at (and buy) "The Gig Reviewer - Best of Unsigned" here

Submitting Music For Reviewing

To submit your music for review, please send it to the address on our contact page

We do receive alot of stuff through the post from bands wanting their EPs reviewed, so we have put this bit to make the whole bit easier.

We try and review all the stuff, however we have to wade through loads of stuff, so please be patient if we don't review it. Please be forgiving if we don't review it at all!

If you speak to us first via email, we can arrange for any costs to be met and to guarantee that your CD gets reviewed!

The Gig Reviewer Shop

Another project has been to create an online shop with the purpose of giving a platform for bands who would not otherwise have an online shop. For those bands not yet well enough funded for it or bands in the early steps of success but just with not enough time on their hands, we hope that the Gig Shop will provide another valuable tool to the unsigned bands out there!

Here's the deal:

We take a 15% cut of the list price of all sales, with postage and packing on top. Then from that price we take off our cut and the fees from the shop provider (Paypal) of around 4%. That's about it. We are a non profit making organisation and currently the gig shop and advertising are the only methods of funding for The Gig Reviewer, so support us and the bands listed in the shop by buying their merchandise!

So, here's a breakdown of the pricing details:

What do I do if I want to become part of The Gig Reviewer?

Well if you're reading this then in a way you already are! If you want to get more involved, then you can go and join and chat rubbish on the rock music community forum, write a review of your favourite band and send it in, or just keep reading and coming back. Or go to a gig email us your review. Articles on almost anything will be published.

We really do not expect the highest standards of journalism. The point of The Gig Reviewer is to share the opinions of the general rock music going public and not to stamp on people's opinions.

That's about it really.

Help - Send Us Money

We really are very poor and don't have enough money to give our kid's their shoes, so please send us some money to keep this fine site running. All donations will be mentioned, and your website can get a mention too if you so wish!
